* The Gig * is tomorrow, Thursday! Gumbo Fiction Salon, a reading series out of Chicago Thursday Nov. 12, 7:00 pm CENTRAL TIME FREE online Delia Sherman & I will each read for half an hour from our respective Works In Progress. The salon also features an open mike:
Beautifully written and photographed, Ellen. Although I have eternal grading to return to, I'm glad I clicked on this during a little lull after faculty meeting. So sorry I couldn't watch the Gig because it conflicted with the Blacksburg children's literature book group, which is one of my favorite Zoom activity these days--small group discussion with lovely people.
Whoa, I can *smell* that final photo, fallen leaves & stone. Oh! Beautiful! We have so few deciduous trees in Houston that I get hungry for photos like that.
I vote for more Arizona stories AND New York stories...with some old Paris stories thrown in for good measure. You make life magical wherever you go, dear, and it's always a pleasure to see it through your eyes. The hills of Devon are missing you...and Howard, Tilly, and I do too.
Thanks, love! I guess I'll be trying out different types of Letters for a bit, and see what sticks. Miss you, too - so glad it's the 21st century and we can still keep up so quickly!
Really enjoyed this- first, I always appreciate thoughtful tales of making lemonade since we’re all gaining experience at that art; and hearing an accurate succinct description that so closely paralleled my own emotions before, during and after the election. And thanks for the lovely visuals- nice work.
What an adventure! I've been following it on the FB, but it's sweet to have your look back at the entire sweep of it. Once this plague is finally over, I hope to stop in and visit with you and D., maybe as I start my Delayed Epickal Road Trip.
I look forward to more photos from your snowy winter NYC.
Gary, you are ripe for a road-trip! See you in the sweet bye and bye. Meanwhile, I really appreciate your thoughts as someone who also knows the FB posts - it was really useful (and gratifying) to know it wasn't just repetitive. (And YOU KNOW all the photos I had to not include in this . . it was awful having to cut them down to fit this length!!!!)

Reading this brightened my morning so much!
So lovely — and that final photo is just enchanting!

This was so soothing and enjoyable to read! It definitely helped my own restless-missing-people mind!
Thank you, Carrie! It always means a lot when you like these, since you were their first champion.
