At least one copy is being given for Christmas! I have reached 43 without learning much at all about Judaism. I'm not sure how I've achieved this, but I'd like my girls to be better informed, so we're starting with your book. xx
(And I can recommend SO MANY BOOKS that will introduce kids to Judaism without being boring! Delia says when she was a kid, she loved the ALL OF A KIND FAMILY books. Historical, but it's a Jewish family so all the kids' adventures are in the context of living their religion, i f that makes sense). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-of-a-Kind_Family
I went with "Check it: your essential self is a rainbow factory 24/7." If that doesn't describe my niecw perfectly, I don't know what does. Also: you're in Lake Mohawk! Welcome to my town. Well, okay, the town I work in. I live in Newton. But close enough! Glad you're enjoying the scenery and hopefully finding inspiration!
My family gives very small things every night, like a pair of socks, except for the last night when we get a donation given in our name to charity. Now that we children are adults, my parents skip several nights for gifts but they never skip the donation. This is not a multigenerational tradition-- my mother would get a single silver coin from a relative or something. And I always think of the Simon & Garfunkel song A Hazy Shade of Winter in NYC around this time of year.
Wonderful Thanksgiving read. thank you! Like any other sensible person who knows you, I am grateful for you and Delia. Seriously. The Pep Talk Generator is lots of fun. It's great the way all combinations work. My other favorite thing this post is the picture of you as the Masked Marvel holding up your book. Happy Hopping Hanukkah! Long ago my-then partner and I decided to do the present a night thing. The idea would be that there'd be one or two largeish gifts, then small fun ones. By the time we got to night 5 or 6 it had become a real strain!
I love your newsletter. Don't ever stop. (Except when you must to get the book done.)

Thank you. You give me heart.
